Watching the Wheat (2010) Flugel Horn & Brass Band
This lyrical flugel horn feature was commissioned by Nigel Seaman and the Markham and District Band in 2010 for their appearance at the Welsh Open Contest.
The arrangement opens with an unaccompanied flugel horn taking the lead line. Accompaniments are then voiced sporadically until a full band blossoms, harmonically echoing shadows of American composers Charles Ives and Aaron Copland.
